Paying It Forward.....Helping Others During The Holidays
Helping others year-round is something that is wonderful to do, but it seems that especially at the holidays, helping children have a Merry Christmas tugs at the hearts of many.
Jeannette McDaniel, Paulding County Middle School teacher, reached out to her neighborhood in early December to let them know about one of her students. The 8th grader had recently moved to Georgia to live with her 18 year old sister, her sister’s boyfriend and their 16 month old son. The boyfriend and 18 year old are barely able to pay rent, so providing Christmas gifts for their baby and for the 8th grade sister they just took in, looked like an impossible task.
Jeannette's neighbors rushed to the rescue! Jeannette was overwhelmed with offers by neighbors to help. Clothing for the toddler and for the 8th grader, along with toys, diapers, gift certificates, food, monetary donations and more, began rolling in at Jeannette’s house for this family. Before she knew it, Jeannette had two full car-loads of items for them.
Jeannette said “My car is loaded and my heart is overflowing with thankfulness once again from the love and generosity of my neighbors”. Thanks to many wonderful, caring people, this young family will have a Merrier Christmas than they expected.
