Do You Know About "OUR PAL'S PLACE"?
Over the years, we've taken in a number of cats and dogs, all of whom have been rescued. At the present time, we are the proud owners of one dog and six cats.
Now I know that to some of you that sounds ridiculous. But honestly, it works quite well. We've had our dog and one of our cats since our children were small. The other four cats have become our house guests over the past two years.
Two of them were adopted from the shelter. The last two were not "planned" adoptions at all, but when I heard their stories, I couldn't resist.
Kay Kay is a small black cat with white legs and feet. She is the sweetest cat ever. I first met her during a photo session at a customer's home. Kay Kay and her sibling had been abandoned by their next door neighbors. The people moved out of their home and left two sweet kittens behind, all alone with no one to care for them. One kitten was hit by a car, leaving the other one all alone. You know the rest of the story....Kay Kay is now a very loving and important part of our family.
Our newest addition is "Shadow". Shadow is a grey cat with white accents. He is build like a lion -- very muscular and lean. He is short haired, but long hair surrounds his face, making him look a little like a grey lion.
Shadow was the pride and joy of a friend of Katherine's who went into the Army right out of high school. "Greg" is a remarkable young man. He went into the Army in order to serve his country and in order to help out his family. I had the pleasure of meeting him over the Christmas holidays when he came by to visit Katherine.
At the time he came to visit, I didn't know about Shadow. As it turns out, Greg's mom had recently had to relocate to Florida and sadly, could not take Greg's cat or dog with her. This was very depressing for both Greg and for his Mom. They had raised Shadow from a kitten and had tried to no avail, to find a home for him.
When Katherine told me about Shadow, my initial reaction was "we can't take anymore cats". However, after I heard the story of how desperate Greg was to find Shadow a loving home, and how he's making a sacrifice for our country, I couldn't - NOT - help him out.
Every now and then we take Shadow's picture and send it to Greg via email and Facebook.
Greg was so worried that no one would take Shadow and that he would end up at the shelter. I wrote Greg a note and said "Don't you worry about Shadow. He is fine here and we love him".

OUR PAL'S PLACE....
If you are an animal lover, you should know about a wonderful, local organization called "Our Pal's Place".
Our Pal’s Place is an incorporated, not-for-profit pet adoption facility and education center located in Marietta, Georgia. Their mission is to rescue dogs from euthanasia at local animal control shelters.
"When entering the shelter, we first meet the dogs who have a “death date”. If we believe we can find the dog a good home, we pull the dog from the shelter into our organization."
Our Pal's Place provides these dogs with food, housing, love, attention, and any necessary rehabilitation. Their dogs receive full veterinarian care and are spay/neutered.
Meanwhile, they work to find these orphaned dogs a loving, permanent home. Potential adopters must complete an adoption application, meet with a director of our organization, and agree to a scheduled home visit.
Our Pal's Place has a website and a FB page -- Won't you visit it and "LIKE" their FB page?
